Anayra Maldonado Quiles (she/her/ella) is a multidisciplinary social scientist and strategic communicator whose work explores the interactions between environmental and sociopolitical crises and reproductive health. She has an MS in Public Health from Purdue University.

As part of her master’s thesis, Anayra developed the PACED Project and conducted field work in Asheville, North Carolina. For this project, she interviewed 25 key-informants who facilitated pregnancy and abortion care amidst Hurricane Helene in North Carolina, aiming to understand the circumstances they encountered throughout disaster response and how this influenced the provision of reproductive care.

Currently, Anayra is leading research about the landscape of abortion in Puerto Rico with the RHD Project.

Anayra also draws from her background in Communications and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies to facilitate workshops and put together resources that support reproductive rights advocacy through non-stigmatizing messaging. She collaborates with The Period Pills Project, and has been a two-time member of the advisory committee for KHJN’s Take Root: Red State Reproductive Justice conference.
